Sometimes the hardest part about coordinating a bus outing is deciding where to go. When you are a social director for a planned living community, special interest club, or neighborhood association, it’s often up to you to come up with great ideas for outings and adventures.
But after visiting all the museums, attractions, and shopping areas, where can you go next? The answer is a mystery. Literally!
Magical Mystery Tour
In the UK, there is an entire travel industry devoted to mystery and adventure. And it has nothing to do with Agatha Christie or Arthur Conan Doyle.
Instead, it is the concept of the “Mystery Tour”. Passengers pay tour bus operators for a mystery tour. They aren’t told where they are going or what they will be doing. The fun is not knowing where the bus is going until it arrives at its mystery destination.
The concept actually served as the centerpiece for The Beatles when they made their film “Magical Mystery Tour” way back in 1967. And its a tradition that continues to this day.
Add Mystery and Excitement to Your Next Outing – Spice Up Your Travel Planning
For your next planned outing, consider not telling your passengers where they are going. Instead, tell them they are participating in a mystery tour. Then simply choose a fun and interesting destination that they will enjoy, such as a park, a beach, or a tourist attraction.
The fun is in the mystery. Your charges will be excited and interested in the journey as they try and guess where they are going. Your bus will be abuzz with excitement and your group will have the time of their lives, not to mention an afternoon they won’t soon forget.
Sometimes the mystery in life is where the fun resides. For your next outing, take a tip from The Beatles and treat your guests to a magical mystery tour of their own.
